Community – Paying it forward
The team at acs Legal Solutions value community. We understand the need to build the social capital of our community and that of our neighbors through volunteering.
As individuals, each of us do something by way of community contribution- coaching and administering junior netball, holding executive positions on not for profits, helping at school.
As a team, we do the same – together.
In January 2011- the acs Legal Solutions team did what so many others did- we closed the office, donned gum-boots grabbed our shovels and joined the Mud Army at Ipswich .
After the mud, we were pleased to be able to offer pro-bono legal services to victims of the Lockyer Valley Flood who were offered a land swap arrangement by their Council, to rebuild their lives, on higher ground.
Cancer affects 1 in 3. In 2012, our team discovered just how true that was. So, in the absence of being able to work miracles ourselves, we joined with others in the Jimboomba Relay for Life event to raise funds to help fight back against cancer. We raised some cash, and more importantly, let those of our team whose family members were affected, know we were with them in more than spirit.
We joined in the fun and frivolities of the annual Daffodil Ball- to raise money for the research, education and support of Cancer patients and its survivors.
Our principal director Maree Slingsby has been providing pro-bono legal services to the community group VETO since 2008. This community organisation seeks a better outcome to the proposal by Energex to construct high voltage power lines along the Logan River.
BRAKE – Driver Awareness Program
We support the BRAKE Driver Awareness program with pro-bono legal services, and governance assistance. This programme educates young drivers about the impact and consequences of their actions behind the wheel, teaching driving knowledge for life.
The BRAKE Driver Awareness Program was founded by Police Sergeant Rob Duncan in 2006. ACS Legal Solutions is proud to support the program by pro-bono legal assistance. Our principal director Jocelynne Berry sits on the Public committee of this great not for profit organisation.
